The main objective of this travail de candidature was to foster students’ speaking skills. Speaking in a foreign language can represent a daunting challenge for many students, so it is the teacher’s job to help them overcome the anxiety often associated with speaking tasks.

1. Research Objectives In my thesis I will examine the role of urban space in contemporary young adult literature. This research will focus primarily on the city of London, a metropolis with its own distinctive landmarks and characteristics inherent to the city landscape.
